Tuesdays 6pm Hip Hop: Fast-paced hip hop to build technique, expression, strength, stamina, agility, flexibilty and fitness while having fun.

Tuesdays 7pm Shuffling: Increase the weapons in your dance battle arsenal with this distinctive street dance technique.

Weekly Cyper Session

Tuesdays 8pm: Prep for dance battles and show off your technique in our weekly dance circle.

Private Lessons $40

9:00 After Party The mall is closed, so we have to clear out of north court, but the party continues at the south side of the mall near Bout Time Pub at FOR THE LOVE OF Studio. Let the beat DROP

Public Cypher and Battles

North Court

Newgate Mall common space. North entrance by former Burlington. Support local artisans and get your dance merch No admission fee.

1-8pm Epic Vendors. Support local artisans and get your dance merch

2:00 Dance Showcase Great performances by local studios and artists.

4:00 Open Cypher . Public dance circle in the middle of the mall to random sick jams you love. Warm up for the battles and show Ogden you are for real.

5:00 Dance, Mingle, Battle Registration Final chance to get registered for the Battles and connect with the community.

6:00 Battles Begin . 1v1 Attack. Watch dancers from all over Utah battle for prizes.

Janika Byington

Founder FOR THE LOVE OF Studio

Janika's talents are varied. Her passion for the work is intense. She is committed to making creative arts a viable living for thousands of artists. Her training is in classical ballet. But she can still let lose and have fun--even though she is 50+ Let's not limit ourselves shall we?

Kenzie Chapman

Dance Director

Kenzie is an entrepreneurial artist with deep passion for building the dance community. The Salt Lake City battle scene became a passion in 2023. She teaches hip hop at The DF Dance Studio with training in popping, waving, contemporary, and shuffling. Dance has been a therapeutic outlet since she started training at age 10. She loves seeing other light up when they learn and master skills on their journey of expression.

Collin Adams

Guest Instructor

Collin (a.k.a. Cybot) is a Robot and Animation dance enthusiast. He has trained with Glitch, Bluprint, and Jaja who inspired him when he watched SYTYCD as a child. UNIMATE robot & animation dance camp LA, gave Collin skills he is excited so share and build a community in Utah around these styles. Collin teaches a robot/animation class and hosts an open style session at the HERC every weekend. Follow at @collin_adamz on instagram and feel free to reach out with any questions!

Our Popping Masterclass. As a third Degree Popper from Utah he competes and teaches all around the country. Prospect of Mighty Zulu Kingz and Sponsor of Relentless, he is focused on growing street dance culture in Utah and helping others build skills, stamina, and success. Because giving back is the most powerful form of gratitude.

how did we get here

At our inaugural event on November 9, 2024, we welcomed the Utah dance community to Newgate Mall in Ogden. We support both just-for-fun and highly competitive dancers with training and performance.

Kenzie walked into FOR THE LOVE OF Studio and met Janika. The conversation sparked an idea that lead to a collaboration, that lead to an incredible team of passionate, skilled, performers and teachers.

We host Epic battles in August and January. We also have weekly in-studio cyphers every Tuesday at 8 monthly workshops, and weekly classes. Create and connect the Ogden dance community and build your skills.
